About Us

Centre de Gravité is a long-term curatorial research platform initiated by Saâdane Afif and Yasmine d'O. Since 2025, the project has been in residence at Sammlung Hoffmann.

Gravity is among the most fundamental forces shaping human experience, yet it often remains invisible as a subject of thought. Beyond its physical effects, it permeates the cultural imagination through narratives of decline and aspiration, freedom and limitation, transcendence and collapse. From the falling body to the dream of flight, the throw of a dice to the fall of civilizations, from monuments to ruins, gravity becomes a stage upon which cultural, political, and aesthetic narratives are continuously negotiated.

Yasmine d'O is a curator and publisher who curated exhibitions as part of Bergen Assembly 2022. She serves as editor-in-chief of Side Magazine and regularly collaborates with Saâdane Afif, whom she met in 2014 at Jemaa el-Fna Square during the Marrakech Biennale.

Saâdane Afif is an artist who lives and works in Berlin. His practice draws on a rich network of collaborators from diverse fields. Through collaborative projects, their expertise and distinctive knowhow are absorbed, re-articulated, and brought into dialogue with his oeuvre. By doing so, these projects question the very notion of the singular artwork and the figure of the individual creator, reminding us that works of art are, by their very nature, collective things.

He was the artistic director of the fourth edition of the Bergen Assembly triennial, Yasmine and the Seven Faces of the Heptahedron (2022). Together with Yasmine d'O, he is the founder of Side Magazine.

Sammlung Hoffmann is a private collection located in Berlin-Mitte, open to the public every Saturday. The collection aims to be a permeable space fostering curiosity and dialogue with art.
